Your essential first rave guide
Stepping into the electronic music scene for the first time is unforgettable. Large festivals and crowded warehouses can feel overwhelming at first, but with the right preparation, awareness, and mindset, you will thrive on the dance floor. Learn what to pack, how to stay safe, and how to embrace the spirit of the community.

IV Packs
When it comes to long days, endless walking, and heat, these will do the trick. Add them to your water and stay ahead. It is crucial, especially if you are doing back-to-back days.
Hydration, footwear, and packing smart
Preparation starts from the ground up. Reliable footwear is non-negotiable when dancing for eight or more hours on varied terrain. Always bring a dedicated hydration backpack to fill at free water stations throughout the venue. Complete your gear checklist with a cozy pashmina for sudden weather changes, stylish sunglasses for sensory ease, and small trinkets to share with fellow dancers.

Rest Breaks
Most festivals and events are all-day projects. I recommend taking rest breaks here and there because it can be a lot. It is also nice to soak in everything while laying down. Get a little rest and then get back to it.
Pacing yourself and harm reduction
Massive festival grounds and loud sound systems are intense, so give yourself permission to take breaks and slow down. Never hesitate to carry Narcan, always test your substances beforehand if you choose to partake, and locate medical or oasis tents early. If you are raving solo, keep trusted friends updated on your location, look out for yourself, and never be afraid to ask security or community members for help.

Social Media and Trinkets
I would love for people to follow our social media and connect with fellow ravers. Forums are a great way to connect and this would be a perfect way to be embraced by the community.
Also, bringing trinkets to these events is a great way to break the ice and talk to new people. You never know when you might find your people and it can be a funny story for your children down the line.
Embracing PLUR and finding community
At the center of rave culture is PLUR: Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect. Every beginner is welcomed with open arms when approaching the crowd with kindness and positive energy. Dive deeper into festival insights on our blog, connect with our growing community, and step onto the dance floor ready to make lasting memories.
